I love drawing. I love it more than food. I love it more than cats, maybe. Drawing is my first language and it is what I go to when I need to unwind, work out ideas, and self-soothe. Drawing transcends bad days, politics, stress, and insomnia. Drawing has helped me navigate raising teenagers and teaching college freshmen. It has been there for me when friends died and when my babies were born, and it is how I chronicle the insanely cute pets I share my life with. Drawing is forever, my best self and my best friend.
Sometimes drawing is painting, and since most of my illustration work involves both drawing and painting, I lump it all under drawing.

Like most artists, authors, illustrators...anyone trying to make a livelihood from their creative passions, I have a day job. I work at Rush Creek Growers, a commercial greenhouse that strives to be mostly organic, and is hands-down the best work environment I have ever experienced. I get to work with very smart and wonderful humans, dogs, and cats. Oh, and plants of course. Every year we send out a big, beautiful catalogue to our clients, and I always submit a few fun drawings of the Rush Creek pets. Here they are!
